About the Role
The Sr. Project Controls Specialist develops, monitors, and maintains comprehensive project schedules and cost controls to ensure timely and on-budget project delivery. This role manages all phases of data center construction and deployment through detailed scheduling, cost tracking, and performance analysis, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize project timelines and financial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules from design through commissioning and operational turnover using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to align schedules with project goals and ensure milestone achievement.
Monitor and report on project progress against established baselines, identifying schedule deviations and recommending corrective actions to maintain project objectives. - Analyze and manage critical path activities, task dependencies, and resource allocation (labor, materials, equipment) to prevent delays and optimize project efficiency.
- Evaluate and incorporate scope changes, design modifications, and execution adjustments into project schedules, assessing timeline and cost impacts.
- Generate detailed progress reports, risk analyses, and forecasts for management, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and proactive issue resolution.
- Coordinate with project managers and procurement teams to align schedule performance with budget targets, monitoring cost implications of schedule variations.
- Recommend and implement improvements to cost control systems, reporting mechanisms, and financial tools to enhance project delivery efficiency.
Skills
- Expert knowledge of construction scheduling principles including critical path method (CPM), resource leveling, earned value management, and float analysis
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex schedule and cost data to diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in fast-paced, dynamic project environments
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Planning and Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) certification preferred
- OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour certification
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in project controls, with demonstrated expertise in construction or infrastructure scheduling, preferably in data centers or complex technical environments
- Proven proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent scheduling platforms
