MPO Solutions performed a focused engineering evaluation of DFW Airport's Central Utility Plant (CUP) Utilities Tunnel sump system and critical tunnel structure, beginning with the North End of the Tunnel section located north of Column No. 366 beneath the CUP. The work established the technical basis to identify structural deficiencies that may require major rehabilitation within the next ten years, providing DFW with prioritized remediation recommendations to extend the expected service life of the tunnel infrastructure housing chilled and heated water lines, PCA glycol systems, and communication assets serving airport operations.

Field activities included inspection of the sump basins, pumps, controls, and discharge paths, along with verification of tunnel cracks, water intrusion, and elevation spot checks at ten (10) locations to detect tunnel elevation changes, supported by verification against utility and structural drawings. Key services included review of existing documentation related to the sump system and recent structural modifications, verification of operational status and emergency readiness of sump components, coordination with DFW Engineering and CUP teams for tunnel access and system testing, and the development of recommendations for repairs and interim improvements. Findings and recommendations were consolidated into a Final Executive Summary Report deliverable to DFW.
