DFW International Airport

MPO Solutions performed an engineering assessment of DFW Airport's Data Center 1 Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) loads and underfloor Chilled Water (CHW) piping systems, delivering verification of connected UPS loads and evaluation of the CHW infrastructure supporting the data center's cooling operations. The work established the technical basis to enhance the reliability of the electrical distribution system and the long-term performance of the CHW infrastructure, supporting DFW's broader effort to safeguard the continuous operation of one of its most mission-critical facilities.
The evaluation covered the UPS distribution panel (wires, terminations, busbars, and plug-in circuit breakers), load compatibility with busways, circuit breakers, and electrical cables, and verification of labeling across the panel and Power Distribution Units (PDUs). Key services included review of the leak detection system with recommendations for BAS integration, a proposed upgrade replacing the existing under-floor Starline busway with an overhead busway equipped with BAS-connected meters, and infrared inspection followed by ultrasonic testing of the CHW supply and return lines at the two weakest points per row. Findings, risk analysis of potential future leaks, and recommendations spanning short-, medium-, and long-term rehabilitation strategies were consolidated into a report deliverable to ETAM.
