Terminal Circular Road Pavement Condition Index (PCI)

MPO Solutions served as the engineering consultant for DFW Airport's Carousel Roads and Infield Parking Pavement Assessment, delivering a documented engineering-based pavement condition assessment of the carousel roads serving Terminals A, B, C, D, and E, along with the Terminal A infield parking lot. MPO's work established the technical basis to identify visible deficiencies and physical characteristics of the pavements, supporting DFW's planning for future capital improvements and O&M work orders across these critical airside roadway assets.

MPO led an assessment team that reviewed historical documents and conducted ground activities to complete the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) survey, coordinating with DFW Airport Traffic Control on data gathering. Key services included field identification of pavement distress, with quantities and dimensions photographed, categorized, prioritized, and mapped with GPS coordinates, along with the prioritization of recommended upgrades based on life safety, lifecycle, obsolescence, code compliance, and environmental and safety considerations. PCI survey findings, collected data, traffic counts, capital recommendations, exhibit drawings, and maps were consolidated into an interactive report deliverable to ETAM, equipping DFW with a comprehensive resource to guide future design and capital planning.
