MPO Solutions served as the assessment consultant for DFW Airport's Terminal D HVAC Systems and Building Automation System (BAS), originally placed into operational use in 2005. With the equipment and BAS technology reaching the end of their expected life expectancy, MPO delivered a documented engineering-based conditional assessment that established the technical foundation for rehabilitating the HVAC and BAS across the entire terminal, bringing systems up to modern standards and positioning them for future operational growth.

Scope included a review of the existing BAS Equipment and Controls, existing conditions, and all ancillary equipment, covering approximately 100 AHUs, 1,100 terminal units, VFDs, exhaust fans, building pressure control fans, and integration with the lighting controls. Key services included inspections, discussions, and minimal operational testing, with particular focus on evaluating the BAS control system's ability to integrate into the Airport's EIOS structure and accommodate future growth in general control aspects, sensor networks, and Digital Twin structure. Findings, capital recommendations, cost estimates, and functional testing with condition ratings were consolidated into an interactive report deliverable to ETAM, equipping the Airport with a comprehensive roadmap for the rehabilitation of Terminal D's HVAC and BAS systems.
