MPO Solutions is performing a detailed engineering evaluation of the Thermal Energy Storage (TES) tank located at DFW Airport's Central Utility Plant (CUP), delivering verification of structural integrity through non-destructive evaluation (NDE), remaining lifecycle estimation, and a feasibility analysis for rerouting the tank's overflow discharge from the stormwater to the sanitary sewer system. The work establishes the technical basis to support DFW's regulatory compliance with environmental discharge standards and provides the documentation needed for future capital project planning around one of the CUP's most critical thermal assets.

The evaluation spans review of existing design drawings, O&M manuals, and inspection history, along with structural inspection of weld seams, steel panels, foundation interface, and internal supports, supported by Non-Destructive Evaluation including ultrasonic thickness testing. Key services include estimation of the tank's remaining service life and identification of rehabilitation strategies to ensure reliable operation for at least 25 years, along with evaluation of overflow rerouting alternatives including gravity-flow and pumped discharge options. Recommendations are coordinated with DFW Environmental and CUP Operations to ensure regulatory compliance, constructability, and lifecycle cost-effectiveness.
